Bloated in Sibu - Chapter 2/4

Fuhh~ I still can recall none of us had a good night rest because of the noisy crowing sounds from roosters behind Rach's house. This particular rooster doesn't crow at the break of dawn but started at 2am sharp till late morning! How to sleep la tell me...

Therefore, we ended up dragging ourself up from the bed, planning to cure our sleep deprive by eating!  First stop at a coffeeshop name 福乐圆茶室 (Fu Le Yuan Cha Shi) for brunch.

#1 - Kampua mee (干盘面)

#2 - Kampua mee with black sauce

It does look like our usual Wantan mee but would like to give credits to the noodles here. Personally i prefer the mee in black sauce but both is equally delicious. Most locals will have this in the morning before the start of work or school. Next, we head straight to another coffeeshop name 新明记茶室 (Xin Ming Ji Cha Shi) to try out the famous pastry Gong Pia!! Need not say much, this is a must eat and all of us love this snack which is usually stuff with minced meat.

#3 - Fried Gong Pia (光饼)

Satisfied with what we had, we decided to take a break from munching and let our digestive system to work as we walk along the morning market. Oh well, it was already afternoon when we reached. Sibu Central Market is the largest market hall there and honestly much cleaner compared to the market in Subang Jaya. Is it just human mentality wiser or their management is better? I wonder.

#7 - No-idea-what-is-this

#8 - No-idea-what-is-this-also

#9 - Chilis, vegetables AND wormsssss!

#10 - Fat wiggling worms. My friend almost manage to force me to try eating it but no way... no way i'm putting it in my mouth although i was told the worms taste like chicken meat.

#11 - Chickens are wrapped with style.

#12 - With Chicky

#13 - A basket full

#14 - Bundle up corns

After all the walking, we're pretty sure that our tummy have some space for dessert! Went to the upper level of the market, to a stall name Ho Ping Rojak. Ordered 五味汤 (wu wei tang) and also cendol. Both are the specialties among locals here. Miss the wu wei tang badly....

#15 - 五味汤 (wu wei tang)

#16 - Cendol, somewhat different from the usual.

Enough of exploring around the central market, we drove down for about 40 minutes to another town, Bintangor. Just to eat the famous rojak at Rojak Place (Wong Hung Ping), Jalan Datu. The rojak sauce here is not as very thick and black but has equivalent good taste. I would fancy it more if i remember to tell the aunty not to add in the taufu. =p

#17 - Rojak

Seriously the weather in the afternoon is killing us. By the time we finished our rojak, we're sweating like nobody business. =( But still we can't help ourself by walking towards the jetty nearby and also  to check out the oldest petrol station there! Ya, how to not get sun burnt?

The sun is about to set while we head back to Sibu. All of us are exhausted and just wish we could just lie down on the bed for a short nap. Ohh! One particular thing about Sarawak is that the road signs are short. Like a miniature!

#29 - Sign board

#30 - Front yard of Rach's house

Dinner was cook and served by Rach's mum. Gotta praise her mum cooking!! All of us already bloated from what we had the entire day but still we finished all the dishes. OH MY~ No idea how much calories went into my body...

#31 - Dinner

The night is still young after dinner. As soon as we freshen up ourself, we went over to visit a nearby temple. The Goddes Of Mercy Pagoda is quite a sight i must say but unfortunately the lanterns were not light up... If not the view could have been better. We are not allowed to climb up the stairs to higher floors but visitors can still pay their respect to the goddes of mercy at the first level inside the pagoda.

Lastly, we spent the night at Cafe Cafe. It is a nice setting cafe in between the shop houses but the food served is just average. Nothing to brag about but can have a try. Not quite sure about their main courses as we ordered only their appetizers and desserts.

That's all for the second part! No idea how we manage to eat so much.... tonight i will be catching the movie Battleship for the 2nd time~ Hehehe.... Till then!

Xoxo.
